Takasuke Kume and A Sol Kwon to Battle for Vacant Lightweight Title at Road FC 17

Road FC Championship BeltTakasuke Kume will be fighting for the organization’s lightweight title for the third time when he faces off against A Sol Kwon at Road FC 17. The Japanese fighter is coming off back-to-back losses against former champion Yui Chul Nam, who vacated the belt to sign for the UFC.

Their lightweight title match will headline a card which is set for the Seoul Olympic Hall on Aug. 17 and also features the professional debut of former Road FC ring girl and reality TV star Ga Yeo Song.

Kume (16-3-4) pushed Nam all the way in their first fight, which was declared a draw meaning that an additional fourth round was required. The Korean ultimately prevailed, but the decision was so controversial that Road FC awarded the challenger an immediate rematch.

The second fight was far less competitive with Nam employing a wrestling-based game plan to control the action and claim a unanimous decision. Kume has since claimed an impressive win over a Brazilian fighter in the Road FC cage and will be looking to take the title at the third time of asking.

Kwon (18-8) was out of action for two years due to military service, but has won two fights out of three since signing with Road FC earlier this year. He’s been a professional for the best part of a decade and is a well known face on the Korean scene.

While Kwon has been around for quite a while, Road FC 17 will also by a big moment for one of the top prospects from the new generation of Korean fighters when 18-year-old bantamweight Jung Yun Lee (3-0) faces Brazilian Thiago Luis Bonifacio Silva (7-2).

Song’s professional debut has been making all the headlines in Korea, but despite her glamorous background she does have plenty of martial arts experience having already competed in amateur MMA and kickboxing.

She is slated to face Japanese fighter Emi Yamamoto, who will also be making her pro debut, but has amateur experience. The main card will be streamed live online for 9.99 USD and is available to purchase from: http://www.ustream.tv/roadfc.
