Unbeaten lightweight prospect Dominic Clark will lock horns with David Douglas in a preliminary matchup at Strikeforce Challengers 11 on Friday at the Save Mart Center in Frenso, Calif. Strikeforce officials have finalized a 12-fight lineup for the event, which airs on Showtime.
Clark, out of the Pro Buhawe camp, trains alongside Strikeforce heavyweight Lavar Johnson and the undefeated Billy Evangelista. The 25-year-old has submitted two of his first three opponents and needed a mere 80 seconds to coax a tapout from Rafael Urena under the Pro Combat banner in September. The rear-naked choke was Clark’s weapon of choice.
A Cesar Gracie protégé, Douglas last appeared at Strikeforce “Carano vs. Cyborg” in August 2009, when his four-fight winning streak was snapped in a third-round rear-naked choke submission loss to Justin Wilcox. In six professional outings, “Tarzan” has never gone the distance. Anchored in Antioch, Calif., Douglas holds a 2008 technical knockout victory over muay Thai superstar Mongkhon “Malaipet” Wiwasuk.
A rematch pairing undefeated welterweight prospect Roger Bowling against Bobby Voelker will headline Strikeforce Challengers 11. Bowling beat Voelker by technical decision in their first encounter five months ago. He was ahead 29-28 on all three scorecards when an unintentional eye poke left him unable to continue 1:38 into round three.
