Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson Main Card Set for Showtime

Strikeforce has released the main card for the upcoming Fedor vs. Henderson card, which takes place in Chicago on July 30.

In addition to the main event pitting heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko against current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson, the promotion has secured four more fights for the televised card.

The co-main event will showcase the Strikeforce women’s welterweight title up for grabs as champion Marloes Coenen takes on Miesha Tate.

They were originally scheduled to meet in March, but Tate suffered a training injury and it forced her out of the bout. Coenen ended up facing last minute replacement Liz Carmouche and after losing the better part of the fight, the champion pulled out triangle choke submission to get the win.

Also added to the card as previously reported by MMAWeekly.com is a middleweight match-up between two former title contenders at Army Ranger Tim Kennedy takes on Robbie Lawler.

Former Strikeforce welterweight contender Paul Daley will look to get back on the title path when he faces Tyron Woodley on the night’s main card.

Rounding out the five bout televised card will be a welterweight fight between Scott Smith and Team Quest fighter Tarec Saffeidine.

“Fedor versus Hendo is the super fight fans have been waiting for and we’re proud to have also stacked the rest of this card with exciting fights,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said.

“Marloes has proven to be one of the best women’s mixed martial artists on the planet, but Miesha could be her toughest challenge yet. When you add knockout artists like Paul Daley, Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith, as well as rising stars such as Tyron Woodley, Tim Kennedy and Tarec Saffiedine, this is the type of card that will deliver some explosive fights.”

Tickets for the event are on sale now.
