Roy Jones Jr. to promote first-ever combined boxing and MMA pay-per-view

Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr.‘s comeback is reportedly set to take place on March 21 at the Pensacola Civic Center in Pensacola, Florida.

Jones’ return to the boxing ring against unheralded Omar Shekia might not only serve as another comeback match for him, but also his final bout as a professional boxer.

The event, which is scheduled to air on pay-per-view and will be promoted by Jones’ own company, is also slated to feature mixed martial arts matches as well.

Fights already announced for the MMA portion include former IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson taking on one-time UFC heavyweight title challenger Jeff Monson along with Set Petruzelli set to square off against former WEC light heavyweight champion Doug Marshall.

The March 21 event would mark Petruzelli’s first bout since a first round TKO over Kimbo Slice this past October during CBS’ Saturday Night Fights. The season two veteran of The Ultimate Fighter later caused controversy after creating uncertainty during a radio interview whether he was paid to keep the fight vs. Slice off the ground.

Rumors are also circulating that former WWE superstar-turned-pro MMA fighter Bobby Lashley could be added to a card as well, with an official announcement possibly coming early next week.
