Report: UFC Champion Ronda Rousey Signs with WME

Ronda Rousey has signed a representation deal with William Morris Endeavor, according to a recent report from the Hollywood Reporter.

WME represents a host of popular athletes, actors, writers and musicians and owns offices in Beverly Hills, New York City, London, Nashville and Miami. The global talent agency is the result of a 2009 merger between the William Morris Agency and Endeavor Agency. Ari Emanuel, WME’s co-CEO, notably brokered the seven-year deal between the UFC and Fox in 2011.

The news comes on the heels of a report from Dave Meltzer stating that Rousey was offered a role in an upcoming “Hunger Games” sequel in the wake of her first UFC title defense against Liz Carmouche at UFC 157, which took place Feb. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Rousey, 26, has been perfect in her mixed martial arts career, finishing all seven of her opponents with first-round armbars. An Olympic bronze medalist in judo, Rousey captured Strikeforce’s bantamweight belt just under a year ago and defended the title once before she was christened UFC champion. For her Octagon debut, “Rowdy” was booked in the UFC 157 main event, where she escaped an early submission scare from Carmouche to stop the “Girl-Rilla” in the first women’s bout in promotional history.
