A lightweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Jason High has been added to the UFC Fight Night 42 card in Albuquerque. UFC officials announced the match-up on Wednesday.
High (18-4) will make his lightweight debut on the June 7 fight card. He made his UFC debut in March 2010 at UFC Fight Night 21 against Charlie Brenneman as a welterweight. He was defeated by unanimous decision and was released by the organization.
Following the loss to Brenneman, High put together a seven-fight winning streak and was re-signed by the promotion. He was defeated by Erick Silva in his first fight back in the UFC, but is currently on a two-fight winning streak. He last fought at UFC 167 on Nov. 16, 2013, defeating Anthony Lapsley by unanimous decision.
Dos Anjos (20-7) will be making a quick turnaround. He last fought on April 19 at UFC on FOX 11, losing to the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov by unanimous decision. Prior to the loss, dos Anjos was riding a five-figt winning streak. The fight with High will be dos Anjos’ fifteenth fight inside the UFC Octagon.
UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov takes place at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque on June 7. The event is headlined by a lightweight match-up between former champion Benson Henderson and rising Russian star Rustam Khabilov.
