Undefeated Pedro Munhoz has agreed to face Raphael Assuncao on short notice at UFC 170.
MMA Sun’s Jason Coles first reported the match-up and MMAWeekly.com has confirmed the news with independent sources close to the fight.
Assuncao (21-4) is ranked No. 3 in the UFC’s bantamweight division. He was originally slated to face Francisco Rivera on the Feb. 22 fight card, but a hand injury forced Rivera out of the fight.
Munhoz seized the opportunity to make his UFC debut and face a top tier opponent when the organization came calling. The 27-year-old Brazilian boasts a 10-0 record with six of those wins coming by way of submission.
UFC 170 takes place on Feb. 22 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey puts her title on the line against fellow Olympic medalist Sara McMann in the main event.
