Pavel Kusch-Chris Scott middleweight bout set for Cage Warriors 58 in Chechnya

chris-scott.jpgCage Warriors’ debut in Chechnya later this summer now has its first fight booking.

Former promotional middleweight title contender Pavel Kusch (13-4) will meet Chris Scott (6-2) at Cage Warriors 58. Promotion officials on Tuesday announced the matchup.

Cage Warriors 58 takes place Aug. 24 in the autonomous Russian republic of Chechnya. The main card will stream live at MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) following prelims on Facebook.

Kusch, a native of the Ukraine, will look for a return to the win column on a two-fight skid, which includes a third-round TKO loss to Chris Fields at Cage Warriors Fight Night 7 this past September. In March, he was knocked out by Rafael Silva in the main event of a card in Russia. But the 24-year-old remains dangerous with all 13 of his pro wins coming by way of submission – with 11 coming in the first round.

“I am very happy to be fighting at Cage Warriors again, and I’m determined to get the win,” stated Kusch, who will be fighting for Cage Warriors for the fourth time. “I also want to put on an entertaining fight against a tough opponent.”

Scott made his promotional debut in April, but dropped a unanimous decision to Mats Nilsson at Cage Warriors 53. That fight snapped a five-fight win streak for the England native, who like Kusch has all of his professional wins by submission.

“When I signed for Cage Warriors, this was exactly what I wanted: big fights against big names, whether that be in the U.K. or abroad,” Scott stated. “My last bout didn’t go to plan, but I can only take the positives from it. For this fight, I’ll be a more focused and more confident fighter.”
