Old pals Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Claudia Gadelha go another round at press conference

LAS VEGAS – UFC women’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk and title challenger Claudia Gadelha are still going at it after stepping off the set of “The Ultimate Fighter 23.”

Appearing Friday at a press conference in support of their headliner at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale, the two had a few things to say about their rivalry on the show, which kicked off Wednesday, and a reported physical skirmish on set.

“It was a long time ago, so I don’t remember,” Jedrzejczyk told MMAjunkie at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. “But I asked Claudia if she would have some coffee after everything, but she said no. Her choice.”

Of course, Jedrzejczyk was poking fun at the relationship that’s led to nose-to-nose standoffs in promos. Ever since the two fought to a decision at UFC on FOX 13 with the champ earning a split decision, they’ve been oil and water. They’ll meet to settle things at the show’s finale, which takes place July 8 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event’s card airs live on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on UFC Fight pass.

Gadelha (13-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) rolled her eyes at Jedrzejczyk’s joke and pretended to insert her finger in her throat, prompting Jedrzejczyk (11-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) to add, “I’m going to put my fist into your mouth on July 8.”

Gadelha shot back, “I think you need that somewhere else.”

And then Jedrzejczyk: “I told you when you sent me a few kisses in the gym, I said to you, I’m engaged. I’m not the different one.”

Before the champ even finished her attempt, Gadelha interrupted.

“I guess he isn’t doing the right job, because if he was, you wouldn’t be that (much of a) bitch,” she said.

The two nearly came to blows at an earlier press conference promoting the UFC’s summer schedule, so it was probably a good thing they were sitting apart. When somebody didn’t get that memo for today’s gathering, UFC President Dana White made sure they weren’t sitting directly across from each other.

“I was like, ‘Oh, hell no,'” White joked.

There was no pushing and shoving when Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha finally faced off. When they weigh in for the July fight, however, the UFC might want to hire extra security.
