Octagon Newcomers Kuivanen, Salas Added to UFC on Fuel TV

A lightweight showdown between Justin Salas and Anton Kuivanen has been added to the UFC’s Feb. 15 card, the promotion announced on Monday.

Going down at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., UFC on Fuel TV is headlined by a key welterweight encounter between Diego Sanchez and Jake Ellenberger. The main card, which also includes Stefan Struve versus Dave Herman in a heavyweight scrap, will air on Fuel TV, while the prelims will be streamed on Facebook.

A former wrestler at the University of Wyoming, Salas brings carries a five-fight winning streak into his Octagon debut. The Grudge Training Center representative owns notable victories against seven-time UFC veteran Robert Emerson and previously unbeaten Joe Ellenberger. Salas has finished six of his nine career wins by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

Kuivanen (Pictured), a 27-year-old native of Helsinki, Finland, has competed for the K-1 Hero’s, Fight Festival and Cage Rage promotions during his 20-bout tenure. He has won his last nine fights and has finished eight of his 16 career victories by way of submission. Kuivanen, who trains at the GB Gym in his homeland as well as American Top Team in Florida, recently appeared on a reality show called “Sali,” which followed the lives of Finnish mixed martial artists.
