Metamoris 5 Update: Keenan Cornelius Replaces Rafael Lovato Jr., Faces Yuri Simoes

Metamoris Pro has inserted Keenan Cornelius into the spot left vacant by the injured Rafael Lovato Jr. against Yuri Simoes at Metamoris 5.

The promotion announced the change on Monday. Metamoris 5 takes place Nov. 22 at Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. In addition to Cornelius and Simoes, the six-match submission grappling card also features Renzo Gracie taking on Kazushi Sakuraba, Rory MacDonald against J.T. Torres, Vinny Magalhaes versus Kevin Casey, Gary Tonon facing Zak Maxwell and a “secret matchup.”

The change comes on the heels of Lovato Jr. withdrawing from the event on Saturday due to a torn pectoral muscle. In steps Cornelius, who will be competing on his third consecutive Metamoris card.

The matchup is the third in a trilogy match of sorts, as Cornelius was defeated by Simoes on points at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds in October, but in February the 21-year-old defeated Simoes in the final of Five Grappling's “California 1 Open Championship.” The bout at Metamoris 5 will take place in the gi.

The first two matches can be viewed in their entirety below.
