Max Holloway Steps in For Injured Ernest Chavez Against Mirsad Bektic

What was supposed to be a bout pitting Ernest Chavez against Mirsad Bektic at UFC Fight Night Tulsa will now be Max Holloway vs. Bektic.

UFC officials announced on Wednesday that Chavez was forced off of the Aug. 23 card and the man many call “Blessed” has stepped in.

UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. dos Anjos” takes place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., and is headlined by a lightweight showdown between Benson Henderson and Rafael dos Anjos.

At the age of 22, Holloway has already stepped inside the Octagon eight times, emerging victorious in five of those contests. The proud Hawaii native has won his last two fights by way of finish, submitting Andre Fili at UFC 172, and then defeating Will Chope via technical knockout at UFC Fight Night “Saffiedine vs. Lim.”

A highly-touted prospect out of American Top Team, Bektic captured a unanimous verdict over Chas Skelly in his initial promotional foray at UFC on Fox 11. The 23-year-old is unbeaten in eight professional bouts.
