Mark Hunt vs. Chris Tuchscherer Fills Up UFC 127 Fight Card

The UFC 127 fight card for Feb. 27 in Sydney, Australia, is full.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Saturday added a heavyweight bout pitting New Zealander Mark Hunk against Brock Lesnar training partner Chris Tuchscherer to the card, bringing the total number of bouts to 11.

Hunt (5-7) made his unlikely Octagon debut in a losing effort to Sean McCorkle at UFC 119 on Sept. 25. With a record of 5-6 heading into that fight, many questioned Hunt’s spot on the roster.

UFC president Dana White, in August, explained that Hunt’s contract was part of Zuffa’s buyout of Pride Fighting Championships, and that they were unable to come to a settlement to buy Hunt out of his contract.

Hunt returns at UFC 127, trying to stop a six-fight losing skid. He hasn’t won a mixed martial arts fight since a TKO victory over Tsuyoshi Kohsaka at a Pride event in 2006.

Tuchscherer (18-3) has had a rocky ride thus far in the Octagon, with a win over Tim Hague sandwiched by losses to Gabriel Gonzaga, and, most recently, Brendan Schaub. He’ll be looking for a victory over Hunt to get back to the winning ways that earned him a spot in the UFC.

Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion B.J. Penn headlines UFC 127 in a welterweight match-up against No. 2 ranked 170-pounder Jon Fitch.
