shane-del-rosario-5.jpgDespite tragically passing away at just 30 years old, Shane del Rosario had time to make an impact on those around him, as was evidenced by the outpouring of support following the UFC and Strikeforce veteran’s unexpected death.

On Monday, UFC officials announced the heart attack that Del Rosario suffered nearly two weeks earlier had claimed his life. His management team later confirmed the report.

“Official Statement: Shane Del Rosario had a catastrophic cardiovascular collapse at home on Tuesday morning. He was brought to the hospital in full cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated in the emergency room back to a stable heart rhythm and blood pressure. He is currently in the coronary care unit critically ill. Our prayers are with him and his family.”

Del Rosario’s management team previously released a statement saying doctors were looking at the potential that the fighter had a rare heart condition known as Long QT Syndrome that typically goes undetected until there’s a problem.

News of Del Rosario’s passing spread quickly in the MMA community, and many notables took to Twitter to express their sadness and support of those who closest to him.
