From the ‘let’s try this again’ file, the UFC has matched up bantamweight phenom Michael McDonald and Nick Pace for a bout at UFC 133 set to go down in August.
McDonald and Pace were originally scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night 24 in March, but a late injury forced Pace out of the fight at the last minute.
The UFC announced the rescheduled bout on Thursday.
While Pace had to sit out due to injury, McDonald (12-1) took on late replacement Edwin Figueroa and got a ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus to boot.
The 20-year old Californian has become possibly the top prospect in the entire sport at 135lbs with his aggressive style and overall well rounded game that has seen him finish opponents in 11 of his 12 victories.
Nick Pace (6-1) returns from injury in August to try and build on his impressive win during his UFC debut where he finished off Will Campuzano with a maneuver many dubbed the ‘Pace choke’.
The bantamweight fighter is 1-1 overall under the Zuffa banner, and he’ll look to bounce back from a long layoff when he faces McDonald in August.
