With the sale of the UFC currently pending, it’s a good time to take a look back.

There have been many key moments in UFC history; one of them was the UFC vs. Pride rivalry. It was no secret that there was a rivalry between UFC president Dana White and Pride president Nobuhiko Sakakibara.

There were constantly talks about the sharing of fighters between the organizations, which never came to full fruition.

In this clip from the UFC 44 post-fight press conference, White talks about the UFC sending Chuck Liddell to participate in the Pride Grand Prix and announced that Kazushi Sakuraba was coming to the UFC. We all know how this deal panned out.

Liddell went on to defeat Alistair Overeem in the Pride tournament before losing to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in the semifinal round. Although Sakuraba fought in the UFC early on in his career, he never set foot in the Octagon after Liddell lost in the Pride Grand Prix.
