Kelvin Gastelum vs. Nico Musoke Added to UFC Fight Night in San Antonio

Kelvin Gastelum TUF 17 WinnerKelvin Gastelum and Nico Musoke will square off at UFC Fight Night San Antonio on June 28.

UFC officials announced the bout on Wednesday.

Gastelum has quietly amassed a professional record of 8-0, but he’s done flying under the radar. No one expected Gastelum to win all four of his fights on season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter, but he did. He road that momentum into the finale, where he upset Uriah Hall, who was the odds-on favorite to win the season.

After besting Hall, Gastelum went on to score a submission victory over Brian Melancon, and then earned a split-decision nod over Rick Story, leading him to the fight with Musoke.

Fighting out of Sweden, Musoke (12-2-1) has already made two trips to the Octagon, defeating Alessio Sakara and Viscardi Andrade. The victory over Sakara was at middleweight, but he was just as successful in defeating Andrade in his first UFC bout at 170 pounds.

The fight with Gastelum, however, will be his first in the United States, and presents a significant opportunity for Musoke to not only knock Gastelum down a peg, but also propel himself onto the UFC’s welterweight radar.

The June 28 fight card marks the UFC’s first trip to San Antonio. UFC Fight Night San Antonio takes place at the AT&T Center and features Cub Swanson vs. Jeremy Stephens in a five-round featherweight main event.
