Journalist Spencer Lazara starches opponent with one-punch knockout in MMA debut

After covering the sport of MMA for several years, Spencer Lazara decided he’d like to trade in his microphone for a pair of gloves, at least for one night. It turned out to be a wise decision.

Lazara, who for the past several years has been best known as a producer and host at MMAInterviews.tv, took an an amateur bout at Friday’s Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas. Fighting for the first time, Lazara entered the cage against 1-1 welterweight Sir Mosley as an unproven commodity. But as you can see in the video above, Lazara made trainer “One Kick” Nick Blomgren proud.

The opening round of the matchup was fairly uneventful, as the majority of the action took place in a stalemate on the floor. Lazara enjoyed top position for most of the frame, but Mosley controlled his opponent’s neck throughout their time on the canvas. The second round had an entirely different feel.

Mosley tried to bait his opponent into a striking exchange by dropping his hands and waving Lazara forward. The strategy backfired when Mosley missed on a spinning attack and southpaw Lazara seized the moment to deliver a crushing left hand that sent his foe face-first into the canvas.
