Jon Jones Tweets His Phone Was Hacked on Heels of Homophobic Rant on Instagram

Jon Jones took to Twitter Tuesday to clear the air regarding a series of homophobic comments made on Instagram. Jones claims that his phone was hacked, and his social media accounts were compromised, allowing an outside party to make unsavory remarks to his name.

Via Twitter:

Jones' manager, Malki Kawa, also insisted that Jones was not behind the offending statements:

MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani asked Kawa what happened, and tweeted the following:

Earlier that day, Jones seemingly made a series of comments on Instagram attacking an Alexander Gustafsson fan who had been heckling him on Twitter (per Bloody Elbow). He lashed out at the naysayer on numerous photos, with remarks ranging from, "U2 are definitely gay," to calling the person "f-g s--t" (with fewer asterisks, of course). MiddleEasy.com grabbed a screen, which you can see here (language NSFW).

As Bloody Elbow points out, however, during the time when Jones had allegedly lost his phone, a new photo was uploaded to Jones' Instagram account, which was clearly taken with a cell phone.

Jones is no stranger to getting barbed by fans. While Jones is clearly one of the greatest fighters in the sport, he has never "clicked" in a positive way.

He recently drew fire for a lengthy tirade regarding former contender Alexander Gustafsson. While the two light heavyweights put together one of the greatest fights in UFC history, he ripped into the Swede by questioning his heart and calling him "delusional." That, though, is just the latest in a years-long series of incidents that includes refusing to sign autographs for fans, scuttling a pay-per-view event, and getting arrested for driving under the influence and crashing his Bentley.

We'll see if that's the end of this story in the coming days.
