A flyweight matchup between the Philippines’ Jenel Lausa and China’s Yao Zhikui has been rebooked for UFC Fight Night 101 in Australia.
The pair was supposed to meet today at UFC Fight Night 97 at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Lausa’s home country, but that card was scrapped following an injury to headliner B.J. Penn.
Featuring a key middleweight matchup between former UFC champ Luke Rockhold and perennial contender Ronaldo Souza, UFC Fight Night 101 takes place Nov. 26 (Nov. 27 in Australia) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The event airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Zhikui (2-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) was a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter: China” who’s 1-2 since joining the UFC. He suffered a split-decision defeat to Royston Wee in his promotional debut before rebounding with a split-decision win over Nolan Ticman. However, in his most recent bout, the 25-year-old Chinese fighter suffered a TKO loss (due to an arm injury) to Fredy Serrano in just 44 seconds.
He now meets Lausa (6-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a 28-year-old Filipino fighter who’s the reigning flyweight champion of the Pacific Xtreme Combat organization. He’s currently riding a four-fight winning streak and most recently earned a split-decision victory over Crisanto Pitpitunge in January.
