A back injury has forced lightweight Isaac Vallie-Flagg (14-3-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) to withdraw from a fight with Sam Stout (20-8-1 MMA, 8-7 UFC) at UFC 161.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed the scratch with sources close to the event, who said a search is underway for a replacement. Sherdog.com first reported the scratch.
UFC 161 takes place June 15 at MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Vallie-Flag vs. Stout was part of the FX-televised preliminary card prior to main-card bouts on pay-per-view.
Strikeforce veteran Vallie-Flagg successfully crossed over to the octagon in February, when he outpointed veteran Yves Edwards by split decision at UFC 156. In the now-defunct Zuffa sister promotion, he went 2-0 with wins over Brian Melancon and Gesias Cavalcante. Vallie-Flagg hasn’t lost a fight in six years and has won 11 of his past 12.
Stout most recently fought at UFC 157, where he won a split decision over Strikeforce vet Caros Fodor. The six-time bonus winner has alternated between wins and losses in his past four outings. Still, the Canadian boasts significant wins over standouts such as Matt Wiman, Joe Lauzon and Spencer Fisher.
The latest UFC 161 card now includes:
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
