Also on the six-bout main card, Colorado Springs, Colo.’s, Raquel Pennington (134.8) locks horns with Californian Leslie Smith (135.8), while Sarah D’Alelio (135.8) squares off with two-time Strikeforce veteran Amanda Nunes (135.8). Additionally, American Top Team product Ediene Gomes (143.2) meets longtime Jewels standout Hiroko Yamanaka (145.6), and the unbeaten Joanne Calderwood (116) tussles with Team Quest member Livia von Plettenberg (116).
Anchored at Team Oyama, Esparza has posted a 2-0 mark thus far under the Invicta FC banner, scoring technical knockout victories over Sarah Schneider in July and Lynn Alvarez in October. The 25-year-old known as “Cookie Monster” six of her eight career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Hyatt enters the Invicta FC 4 headliner as a short-notice replacement for the injured Claudia Gadelha. The 23-year-old Hyatt has racked up four straight wins since dropping her pro debut 14 months ago, most recently stopping Christina Nicole Tatnell in 37 seconds this past October. Saturday will mark Hyatt’s first appearance on American soil; all of her previous five professional bouts have come in her homeland of Australia.
