Fans invited to UFC 164 press conference, tailgate, Harley events in Milwaukee

The UFC returns to Milwaukee next week for the first time in about two years, and fans are invited to several pre-fight events in anticipation of UFC 164.

On Thursday, Aug. 29, fans can attend the pre-fight news conference and a 110th anniversary event for UFC 164 main sponsor Harley-Davidson. Friday, Aug. 30 brings the event’s weigh-ins and a UFC Fight Club Q&A session. And on Aug. 31, the day of the event, fans can attend a pre-show tailgate party and a Harley-Davidson parade.

“UFC 164: Henderson vs. Pettis 2? takes place Aug. 31 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee. UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (18-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) defends his title against Anthony Pettis (16-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC), a Milwaukee native and resident, in the main event. Henderson and Pettis first fought in 2010 in the final fight in WEC history, when Pettis took Henderson’s title. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.

In addition to the Henderson-Pettis rematch, UFC 164 features a heavyweight bout between Frank Mir (16-7 MMA, 14-7 UFC) and Josh Barnett (32-6 MMA, 4-1 UFC) in the co-main event and a key featherweight matchup between Chad Mendes (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and Clay Guida (30-13 MMA, 10-7 UFC).

The Aug. 29 news conference takes place at Bradley Center at 1 p.m. CT local time. Henderson, Pettis, Mir, Barnett, Mendes, Guida and UFC President Dana White all are scheduled to be on the dais. Later that day at 6 p.m. CT, White will be joined by UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, Velasquez teammate and heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier, bantamweight contender Urijah Faber and UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes at the Harley-Davidson Museum as part of the motorcycle company’s 110th anniversary celebration.

As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) previously reported, on Aug. 30, weigh-ins take place at Bradley Center at 4 p.m. CT with doors open to the public at 3 p.m. But members of the UFC Fight Club can get in at 1 p.m. to attend a special Q&A session with Cormier and Faber at 2 p.m.

On Aug. 31, Velasquez will participate in a morotcycle parade from Miller Park that culminates at Milwaukee’s Summerfest grounds. Before UFC 164 gets underway, a tailgate party will take place outside Bradley Center from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. CT. Velasquez, Faber, Cormier and Hughes all will be on hand to meet and greet fans and sign autographs.
