Episode No. 4 recap: ‘The Ultimate Fighter 19: Team Edgar vs. Team Penn’

The Ultimate Fighter 19: Team Penn vs Team Edgar

Episode four of “The Ultimate Fighter 19: Team Edgar vs. Team Penn” opens with Daniel Spohn discussing his somewhat lackluster victor over Todd Monaghan in the last episode. Spohn said he purposely avoided dangerous situations in the fight so he can be healthy for his semifinal contest.

At the next Team Edgar training session, head coach Frankie Edgar talks about his winless start to the season. All the fighters are motivated to turn things around, and with tournament favorite Dhiego Lima fighting Team Penn’s Tim Williams next, there’s a solid chance the tide could finally turn.

Team Penn gets a training session in later in the day. Everyone’s confidence is at a high after winning the first two bouts in decisive fashion. They’re hoping Williams is able to keep the ball rolling.

Williams talks about his second chance on “TUF.” He was eliminated by Dylan Andrews in the preliminary round of “TUF 17” and is determined to make good on his rare second chance to win the coveted six-figure UFC contract.

Team Edgar’s Lima says his motivation to succeed in MMA came from his older brother, Douglas, who is the current Bellator MMA welterweight champion. Coach Edgar is very high on Lima’s talents and calls him one of the most well rounded participants in the competition.

Williams and Lima hit the 185-pound middleweight mark at the weigh-in, making the second of four quarterfinal matchups of the season official.
