Three new champions emerged during Saturday’s Bellator 106 event, including Eddie Alvarez, who edged now-ex-lightweight titleholder Michael Chandler in a rematch – and another instant classic between the duo.
The fight headlined Bellator 106, initially slated for pay-per-view before would-be headliner Tito Ortiz scratched due to a neck injury. Instead, fight fans got it for free on Spike TV, and what a treat it was.
After Chandler (12-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) posted a fourth-round submission victory in the duo’s first meeting in November 2011, Alvarez (25-3 MMA, 10-1 BMMA) avenged the defeat on Saturday at Long Beach Arena in California.
Check out the highlights above to see how he did it. Also see who else was victorious in earlier action.
