David Rickels vs. J.J. Ambrose, six prelims set for Bellator 103 in Kansas

A lightweight bout featuring a recent tournament winner and a full slate of prelims have been added to Bellator’s October show in Kansas.

David Rickels (14-2 MMA, 8-2 BMMA) will meet J.J. Ambrose (19-4 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) on the main card of Bellator 103, which also features a pair of Season 9 featherweight tournament semifinals. In addition, six preliminary card fights have been added to the show.

Bellator 103 takes place Oct. 11 at Kansas Star Arena at Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, just south of Wichita. The main card of the event will air on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com.

Rickels won the Season 8 lightweight tournament by knocking out Saad Awad in March at Bellator 94 to run his win streak to four. But against Michael Chandler in a title fight at Bellator 97 a month ago, he was knocked out in just 44 seconds for the second loss of his career.

“Superman” Ambrose has a pair of Bellator fights in his career. His most recent loss came in March 2012 when he was submitted by Brent Weedman. In January at Bellator 85, he submitted Brian Warren in the second round. His resume also includes a fight against Mike Pyle under the short-lived Affliction banner.

Fights on the preliminary card include Wichita’s Jeimeson Saudino (6-1 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) on a five-fight winning streak against Jesse Thornton (4-7 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in a bantamweight bout; and fellow Kansas native Marcio Navarro (9-8 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) takes on Donnie Bell (8-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at lightweight.

With the additions, the Bellator 103 card now includes:
