A day after being removed from a fight with Isaac Vallie-Flagge, lightweight Danny Castillo has a new opponent for UFC 172.
UFC officials on Wednesday announced that Castillo and Charlie Brenneman have verbally agreed to meet on the April 26 fight card in Baltimore.
No reason was given for shuffling the deck and putting Vallie-Flagge up against Takanori Gomi instead of Castillo.
Having amassed a 6-3 record in the Octagon since making the move from the WEC, Castillo (16-6) enters the bout with Brenneman coming off of a majority-decision loss to Edson Barboza at UFC on Fox 9 in December.
Brenneman (19-6) is also coming off of a loss, to Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 35 in January. The fight was Brenneman’s first in the Octagon after having won four consecutive bouts in other promotions following his first stint with the world’s largest MMA promotion.
UFC 172 is headlined by Jon Jones’ latest light heavyweight title defense, as he faces Glover Teixeira in the night’s main event.
