Conor McGregor Comments on Meeting with Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta

Conor McGregor Comments on Meeting with Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor said he is in a "good place" with the UFC after meeting with co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta and president Dana White on Wednesday.

The two sides met in Los Angeles for the first time since McGregor was removed from the UFC 200 card, in which he was supposed to main-event the show along with Nate Diaz. McGregor told ESPN it was a good meeting and it was important to put emotions aside (h/t Damon Martin of Fox Sports):

I met with Dana and Mr. Fertitta, good conversation like it always is. "We have a good relationship. It is what it is. It happens. This is the fight game. Sometimes emotions get into it but it's important to recognize that emotions have no place in business.

So that's essentially what it was last night. We just set it aside. There's no place for emotions in this. We are doing beautiful things so let's continue. Let's fix it and continue.

McGregor, White and Fertitta met for the better part of two hours, per Martin, and also told ESPN the relationship is not all the way fixed, but it's content.

"I'd say we're nice and in the middle. In a good place," McGregor said, per Martin.

Nothing contextual was going to come from this meeting right away, but it's a good sign McGregor and the higher-ups from UFC are at least talking. Nothing can be done to salvage the McGregor-Diaz match in July, but this could be the first step to planning something bigger down the road.
