Cage Warriors re-ups with welterweight Matt Inman for five more fights

Thanks to a three-fight winning streak of stoppages, Matt Inman and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship are locked up for a while.

Inman (12-5), a welterweight, has signed a new five-fight deal with the promotion for bouts over the next 18 months, Cage Warriors announced on Wednesday.

So far in 2013, Inman has gone 3-1 for the promotion. In March, he was stopped by veteran Jack Mason in the second round at Cage Warriors 52. But after the loss, he responded with wins over Leon Kenge, Mohsen Bahari and Bagautdin Sharaputdinov.

In May, Inman stopped Kenge with a third-round TKO at Cage Warriors 54. In August, he stopped Sharaputdinov with elbows in the second round. But perhaps the best of the three-fight streak was a 44-second heel hook submission of Bahari at Cage Warriors 57 in July.

The 27-year-old fighter from Manchester, England, will have one more fight in 2013, though that bout hasn’t been announced yet.

“I’m very happy to have signed a new deal with Cage Warriors,” Inman stated. “I feel to date I’ve been in some exciting fights, as well as growing as a fighter. Hopefully this new deal will give me the opportunity to keep moving forward and be involved in more good fights.”

All 12 of Inman’s career wins have come by stoppage – six by submission and six by knockout.

Prior to his current three-fight streak, Inman was on a rough stretch of four losses in five fights over a two-year period.

“I’ve been really impressed by how Matt has turned things around this year with three impressive victories and I’m delighted he’s committed to another five fights with us,” Cage Warriors matchmaker Ian Dean stated. “I think he has the ability to be a title contender in one of our most stacked divisions.”
