Boxing Champ Holly Holm Makes July 19 Legacy FC Debut

Holly Holm now has an opponent for her Legacy Fighting Championship debut, as the former multi-time boxing world champion will square off with Allanna Jones on July 19 at LFC 21.

LFC promoter Mick Maynard announced the pairing on Friday morning. LFC 21 takes place at the Arena Theater in Houston and is headlined by a bantamweight title tilt pitting Matt Hobar against Angel Huerta.

Holm, 31, recently announced her retirement from boxing to focus on MMA full-time. The Jackson’s MMA disciple competed three times as a mixed martial artist while maintaining her boxing career, posting a 3-0 record over the last two years. “The Preacher’s Daughter” most recently competed for Bellator on Feb. 28, earning a second-round technical knockout over an undersized Katie Merrill at Bellator 91.

Jones saw her pro record fall to 2-2 in her most recent outing, when she was defeated via unanimous decision by transsexual fighter Fallon Fox under Florida’s Championship Fighting Alliance banner. Prior to that May 24 setback, “Hands of Stone” kicked off 2013 with a split decision win over Kelsey De Santis to earn her spot opposite Fox in the semifinals of the CFA women’s featherweight tournament.
