Bellator 48 Targeted for Aug. 20 at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun

The third event in Bellator Fighting Championships’ upcoming “Summer Series” trilogy now has a location, as Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney (Pictured; file photo) announced Wednesday that Bellator 48 will likely emanate from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Aug. 20.

Rebney revealed the event’s probable location during a radio appearance on MMAJunkie.com. Bellator 48 will air live on MTV2 and will feature the final round of Bellator’s latest eight-man, 145-pound tournament.

Bellator’s “Summer Series” will kick off June 25 with Bellator 46, where Marlon Sandro, Pat Curran Ronnie Mann and Nazareno Malegarie will square off in respective featherweight quarterfinal bouts with Genair da Silva, Luis Palomino, Adam Schindler and Jacob Devree.

The tournament semifinals will then be contested at Bellator 47, which goes down July 23 and marks the promotion’s Canadian debut. Additionally, reigning featherweight king Joe Warren will defend his strap that night at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada, against fourth-season tournament winner Patricio “Pitbull” Freire.
