Bantamweight Headliners Joe Warren, Owen Evinger Cleared for Friday’s Bellator 80

Joe Warren has not competed since relinquishing his Bellator Fighting Championships featherweight title to Pat Curran on March 9.

On Friday, “The Baddest Man on the Planet” will return to the cage as a bantamweight, taking on Owen Evinger in the Bellator 80 headliner from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Both Warren and Evinger were cleared at Thursday’s weigh-ins, checking in at 135.6 and 135.2 pounds, respectively.

The evening’s main draw airs live on MTV2 and also features a Season 7 featherweight tournament semifinal pitting Wagnney Fabiano (146) against Rad Martinez (145.8). Additionally, Vinicius Kappke de Quieroz (240.5) and Alexander Volkov (226) will meet to determine who will face Richard Hale in the heavyweight final. Rounding out the main draw broadcast will be a welterweight confrontation between five-time Bellator veteran Brett Cooper (185.8) and ex-Strikeforce talent Darryl Cobb (185.2).

Six fights make up the evening’s undercard, which streams live on Spike.com immediately prior to the MTV2 broadcast. Highlighting the preliminary draw are appearances from former UFC talent Joe Vedepo (185.4) and hard-hitting muay Thai practitioner Cosmo Alexandre (168.2), as they take on Mike Bernhard (185.6) and Josh Quayhagen (169), respectively.
