Akira Corassani off UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 card, Steven Siler meets Mike Brown

steven-siler-5.jpgAnother change has hit the preliminary card of the UFC’s August return to Boston.

Akira Corassani (11-3-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has been forced out of his featherweight bout against former WEC champion Mike Brown (26-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC), and stepping in for him will be another Season 14 “Ultimate Fighter” alum in Steven Siler (22-10 MMA, 4-1 UFC).

UFC officials recently announced the fight switch for UFC on FOX Sports 1 1, which takes place Aug. 17 at TD Garden in Boston. The show will be the UFC’s first on the new FOX Sports 1 cable network, which will launch the same day.

Siler got back in the win column in April with a unanimous decision win over Kurt Holobaugh at UFC 159 in Newark, N.J. After appearing on Season 14 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Siler won his official UFC debut with a unanimous decision win over Josh Clopton at the TUF 14 Finale. He then upset Cole Miller in March 2012 before submitting Joey Gambino a little more than a year ago.

But he had his three-fight win streak snapped by Darren Elkins at UFC 154 in November in Montreal, dropping a unanimous decision and getting swept on the judges’ scorecards in the night’s opening fight. Against Holobaugh in a fight that also opened the card, he picked up a trio of 29-28 scores.

Brown comes to the fight with a two-bout win streak after decision wins over Daniel Pineda and Nam Phan. Those wins were huge for the former WEC featherweight titleholder, who had a rough 2-4 stretch.

Although he toyed with retirement, Brown ultimately decided to stick with the sport and brings his two-fight streak to Boston – he’s a native of nearby Portland, Maine – more than a year after his win over Pineda.

Corassani, who like Siler was a contestant on “TUF 14,” was looking to stay perfect in the UFC. The Swede holds decision wins over Robbie Peralta and Andy Ogle so far as a UFC fighter. His unanimous decision nod over Peralta came in April in his home country.

With the latest change to the lineup, the UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 1, 6 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook, 4:30 p.m. ET)

* Not officially announced
