Palhares released the hold too late by many observers’ opinions, including UFC officials, who elected to not give Palhares a $50,000 “Submission of the Night” bonus for “unsportsmanlike conduct.”

The bout took place at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and aired on FOX Sports 1.
