Veronica Rothenhausler Injured; Mollie Estes Now Meets Julia Budd at Invicta FC 5

Mollie Estes has a new opponent for her second Invicta Fighting Championships appearance.

Promotion officials announced on Monday that Veronica Rothenhausler has withdrawn from the featherweight contest due to injury. Estes will now square off with Julia Budd at the April 5 event.

Invicta FC 5 takes place at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo., and is headlined by a pair of title bouts: Jessica Penne defends her 105-pound belt against Michelle Waterson, while Vanessa Porto and Barb Honchak lock horns in the organization’s first-ever flyweight title tilt.

Estes came up short in her Invicta debut, falling to Randi Miller via third-round technical knockout last April. The 37-year-old Crawford’s MMA representative scored a unanimous verdict over Lacie Jackson in her first professional outing.

A four-time Strikeforce Challengers competitor, Budd [pictured] is 2-0 under the Invicta banner, with first-round stoppages of Elina Nilsson and Danielle West to her credit. “The Jewel” squared off with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey at Strikeforce Challengers 20 and submitted to an armbar 39 seconds into the opening stanza.
