Urijah Faber Reveals Coaching Staff and Guests for Ultimate Fighter Live Team

That’s how far the trip is from Sacramento to Las Vegas, but Team Alpha Male will officially relocate starting this Friday for the new Ultimate Fighter Live.

The team’s leader Urijah Faber will be coaching the latest squad of lightweights opposite his longtime rival Dominick Cruz, while also preparing for his third bout with the UFC’s top bantamweight this summer.

In preparation for the new season of the show, Faber is bringing in all of the big guns to help train his team of 8 lightweights as well as run his camp while he trains for the fight with Cruz on July 7.

“The guys are coming out on the 6th so I’ve got my whole coaching staff. Master Thong, Fabio Prado, Dustin Akbari, Lance Palmer, Justin Buccholz, are all coming out to coach,” Faber told MMAWeekly Radio.

“Joseph (Benavidez) and T.J. (Dillashaw) and a couple of the guys are still in Australia, so they’ll be coming in a little bit later, and Danny Castillo and Chad Mendes, all the guys that are key players on our team right now will be coming out to train as well.”

Striking coaches Master Thong and Justin Buccholz have been mainstays of Faber’s Team Alpha Male for quite some time, while Fabio Prado and Dustin Akbari will head up the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training for his Ultimate Fighter squad.

Four time All-American Lance Palmer will take over the coaching duties for the wrestling, and Faber will have all of his Team Alpha Male teammates on hand to help teach, spar and work with the lightweights on the show.

In addition to Faber’s cast of regulars, he’s promised more than a few surprises for the team that he’ll select after Friday’s elimination show.

“On top of that we’re going to have guest coaches in, guys like Mark Munoz and Phil Nurse, and hopefully Mark Dellagrotte, and Duke Roufus, I’d like to get some of those guys in as well,” Faber revealed.

“Throughout the three month process we’re going to have a lot of different people coming through here.”

The grand plan according to Faber is to defeat Cruz’s team on the show and then beat him for the UFC bantamweight title in July.

One thing’s for sure. He’s got an all-star cast around him to make sure his team is up to par when they step foot in the cage to compete.

The Ultimate Fighter Live kicks off this Friday night at 9pm ET on FX with a special 2 ½ hour live show featuring 16 fights to see who gets into the house for the competition.
