Undefeated Holly Holm returns Dec. 6, opponent booked

holly-holm-1.jpgUndefeated MMA prospect and former boxing champion Holly Holm has booked her next fight. Perhaps amazingly, promoters found a willing opponent.

Holm (5-0), who recently scored a knockout of Nikki Knudsen (2-2) via body shots this past weekend at Legacy FC 24 (watch the video), next meets Angela Hayes (6-6).

The bout, part of a Fresquez Productions show, takes place at Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, N.M.

Hayes, 40, has won five of her past six bouts. However, she hasn’t competed professionally in nearly two years, when she rebounded from a Cage Warriors Fight Night 2 loss to Aisling Daly with a submission victory over Trisha Clark at “NMEF: Annihilation 36.”

Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard told MMAjunkie.com that Holm is then expected to return to his promotion for a fight in March 2014. The fight executive has had a tough time finding opponents for Holm and said more than 40 women turned down this past weekend’s fight before Knudsen ultimately accepted it.

Holm, one of MMA’s more intriguing female prospects, went 33-2-3 during her pro boxing career and announced a full-time move to MMA earlier this year. In her promotional debut at Legacy FC 21 in July, she scored a second-round knockout via head kick against Allanna Jones. All of her MMA wins have come by knockout. Holm trains at the Jackson-Winkeljohn camp in Albuquerque.
