UFC Vets Sokoudjou, Doerksen Added to June 10 Event in Ontario

Former UFC talents Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Joe Doerksen will take part in a June 10 Score Fighting Series event at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

The show will also feature Antonio Carvalho, Jordan Mein, Adrian Wooley, Jorge Britto, Tyler Hardcastle, Will Romero, Denis Puric, Josh Hill and Alex Ricci, among others. Matchups have yet to be announced for the card, which is being promoted by Canadian sports television network The Score.

A powerful light heavyweight, Sokoudjou (Pictured) is known for his heavy hands and athleticism. The 27-year-old judoka burst onto the scene in 2007 with stunning knockouts of highly regarded Pride Fighting Championships competitors Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona in just 2:22 combined.

Sokoudjou would fare much less favorably in the UFC, as the Team Quest representative posted a 1-3 Octagon record before being bounced from the promotion in 2008. The native Cameroonian recently won back-to-back fights, capturing the KSW light heavyweight title in March with a win over Polish standout Jan Blachowicz.

A veteran of 61 bouts, Doerksen began his pro career in 1999. The Canadian’s most recent run with the UFC began auspiciously, as Doerksen choked out Tom Lawlor in May 2010. Doerksen’s next fight inside the Octagon marked the start of a three-fight skid, however, as he was bested by C.B. Dollaway and Dan Miller before receiving his walking papers. Most recently, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt suffered a TKO defeat at the hands of Bellator middleweight king Hector Lombard in March.
