UFC Veteran Tom Lawlor Suspended for Potential Anti-Doping Violation | MMAWeekly.com

UFC veteran Tom Lawlor has been suspended for a potential UFC Anti-Doping Policy violation.

The UFC organization was notified on Thursday that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Lawlor of a potential Anti-Doping violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on Oct. 10, 2016. USADA provisionally suspended Lawlor based on the potential anti-doping violation.

Tom-Lawlor-UFC-196-Luncheon-01“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case,” read a statement released by the UFC.

“It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information or UFC statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”

Lawlor hasn’t fought since UFC 196 in March, where he lost to Corey Anderson via unanimous decision. The loss had followed back-to-back victories, as Lawlor made the transition from middleweight to the light heavyweight.
