UFC Fight Night Weigh-in Results: Headliners Matt Brown, Erick Silva Cleared

Brown checked in at 170.5 pounds for his five-round clash with Erick Silva (170.5) in the UFC Fight Night “Brown vs. Silva” main event on Saturday at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. Middleweight co-headliners Costas Philippou (185) and Lorenz Larkin (185.5) also met their contracted weight requirements without incident at Friday’s official weigh-in.

A quarterfinalist on Season 7 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Brown will carry a six-fight winning streak into the cage. The 33-year-old Xenia, Ohio, native last fought at UFC Fight Night “Shogun vs. Sonnen” in August, when he needed a mere 29 seconds to dispatch Mike Pyle at the TD Garden in Boston. He has delivered 16 of his 18 professional victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission. Brown has compiled an 11-5 record since arriving in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in June 2008.

Silva, a judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, last appeared at UFC Fight Night “Machida vs. Mousasi” in February, when he wiped out reigning welterweight King of Pancrase Takenori Sato with first-round punches at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil. While superstardom was once forecast for him, the 29-year-old former Jungle Fight champion has not recorded consecutive victories since he won four straight between July 31, 2010 and Aug. 27, 2011. Silva owns a 4-3 mark inside the Octagon.

UFC Fight Night “Brown vs. Silva” -- which airs live on Fox Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT -- will also feature a lightweight scrap pairing Roufusport’s Erik Koch (155) with Daron Cruickshank (156), a welterweight tilt pitting former two-division King of the Cage champion Tim Means (170) against Neil Magny (170.5), a heavyweight duel matching Soa Palelei (263) with Ruan Potts (244) and a flyweight affair between the unbeaten Louis Smolka (126) and Chris Cariaso (125.5).

Two hours prior, Fox Sports 2 will carry four preliminary bouts: Ed Herman (185) vs. Rafael Natal (185.5), Kyojio Horiguchi (126) vs. Darrell Montague (125), Yan Cabral (170.5) vs. Zak Cummings (169.5) and Eddie Wineland (136) vs. Johnny Eduardo (136). The three remaining undercard matchups will stream to UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT, as Nik Lentz (145) meets Manny Gamburyan (145.5), Justin Salas (155.5) faces Ben Wall (155) and Anthony Lapsley (171) battles Albert Tumenov (170.5).
