Thomas Almeida wanted to get back in the win column at UFC Fight Night 100 and he did so with a crushing TKO of Albert Morales.
The bantamweight bout was the co-main event of the UFC Fight Night 100 event at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. It aired on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
Almeida (21-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) had to battle hard against his unheralded opponent early because Morales (6-1-1 MMA, 0-1-1 UFC) was perfectly willing to try to bang it out on the feet. He landed plenty of solid shots of his own, but Almeida’s power proved too much in the second round when he flurried hard and finished a badly hurt Morales against the cage. After a brutal body shot dropped Morales to the canvas, the referee called off the bout at the 1:37 mark of Round 2.
