Liz Carmouche vs. Alexis Davis

Round 1: Neither woman goes big early, although both are landing a mix of punches and kicks. Carmouche lands a strong outside leg kick, but Davis keeps moving forward, attacking with the inside leg kick, landing several of them. It’s starting to show as Carmouche is favoring her lead leg a bit, not putting as much weight on it as she was early on. Davis lands solid punch combination to the head. Carmouche is now moving away a lot, while Davis stalks and continues chopping at her lead leg. MMAWeekly scores round one 10-9 for Davis.

Round 2: Carmouche comes out firing with a renewed sense of urgency, landing an inside leg kick of her own. But Davis is still hitting the inside leg kick to to Carmouche’s lead leg and then the two land in a clash of big punches. Carmouche’s punch opened a gash over Davis’ left eye, but she keeps firing, still chopping the lead leg, but landing  fluries of punches as well. Carmouche is landing some big punches, but in less quantity than Davis. Carmouche lands a couple good shots, but now Davis is mounting numerous kicks, inside and outside to Carmouche’s lead leg. Davis catches a kick and dumps Carmouche on her back, and then drops down into side control. Davis is dropping shoulder punches, but staying tight on Carmouche, driving knees to her ribs. Carmouche powers a reverse just before the horn. MMAWeekly scores round two 10-9 for Davis.

Round 3: Davis immediately attacks Carmouche’s lead leg and kicks it out, sending Carmouche to the mat. The Marine bounces back to her feet, but Davis presses her into the fence and starts kneeing her body and legs. They come off the fence, and Carmouche starts landing some knees as well, but Davis remains in control. They stall out and the referee separates them. Davis keeps pushing forward, landing many more punches and kicks, while Carmouche is going for the power shots. Carmouche is landing here and there, but Davis is controlling the pace, clinches up, and presses Carmouche into the fence again. Carmouche goes for a takedown, but Davis stuffs it and continues firing punch combinations and chopping Carmouche’s lead leg. Davis lands a straight right to the chin that snaps Carmouche’s head back. Davis keeps stalking, picking away at the leg. MMAWeekly scores round three 10-9 and the fight 30-27 for Davis.
