A light-heavyweight bout between kickboxer Tyrone Spong (1-0) and experienced striker Angel DeAnda (11-2) will co-headline World Series of Fighting 3 in June.
WSOF President Ray Sefo confirmed the bout on Twitter.
WSOF takes place June 14 in Las Vegas, though a venue hasn’t been finalized. The main card, including a Jon Fitch vs. Josh Burkman welterweight headliner, airs on NBC Sports Network.
Spong, a Surinamese-Dutch striker with a 69-6-1 pro kickboxing record, fights in an MMA cage for just the second time. Back in November, he made his highly anticipated MMA debut and made short work of Travis Bartlett, whom he knocked out in the first round. This past month, the 27-year-old Spong, who trains with the Florida-based Blackzilian team, returned to kickboxing and headed to England, where he scored a second-round knockout of Remy Bonjasky at GLORY 5.
DeAnda, meanwhile, most recently fought in November, when he knocked out former Strikeforce title challenger Anthony Ruiz at a Tachi Palace Fights event. It marked the California-based fighter’s fourth straight win and his 10th knockout in 11 career victories. His only loss in his past 11 fights came to UFC vet James Irvin.
