Expect fireworks in December, as two of the lightweight divisions’ most exciting fighters will clash at UFC 181.
UFC officials today announced that Tony Ferguson (16-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) vs. Abel Trujillo (12-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has been added to the lineup for the Dec. 6 event, which takes place at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center and airs on pay-per-view.
Ferguson, “The Ultimate Fighter 13? winner, is currently enjoying a three-fight winning streak that includes victories over Mike Rio, Katsunori Kikuno and, most recently, Danny Castillo. Overall, he’s 9-1 in his past 10 fights, a run that includes six wins in seven official UIFC appearances.
Meanwhile, Trujillo fights for the first time since picking up both a “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night” bonus for his February win over Jamie Varner. Trujillo’s only loss in four official UFC appearances came in a UFC 160 bout with current top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov.
