Round 1: No touch of the gloves.  Benoit lands a left uppercut.  Sampo takes the center of the cage.  Benoit delivers a kick to the body.  Sampo looks to get the fight to the ground but Benoit stuffs it.  Sampo lands a right hand that wobbles Benoit.  Sampo takes the fight to the ground.  He delivers short shots from the half guard position.  Sampo advances to the mount position.  Benoit reverses him and gains top position.  Sampo sets up an oma plata and uses it reverse.  The referee stands the fighters up.  Sampo steps in with a combination.  Sampo lands a kick to the body.  Benoit answers with a right hand.  Benoit throwing heavy shots but missing.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Sampo.

Round 2: They meet in the middle of the cage.  Benoit lands a right hand.  Sampo changes levels and takes the fight to the ground.  He moves to side control.  Sampo isolates an arm.  He lands to the body.  Sampo moves to the mount position.  Benoit bridges and reverses Sampo.  Sampo looks for a triangle choke but Benoit defends and scrambles to Sampo’s back.  Sampo rolls but Benoit stays on him and lands a right hand.  Sampo reverses Benoit with two minutes remaining in the round.  Sampo delivers elbows and moves to the half guard position.  Sampo advances to the mount position.  He lands short punches to the body.  Benoit gives up his back and Sampo applies a rear naked choke.  Benoit is forced to tap out.  Sampo wins by submission.

“There are no excuse to me not making weight.  I apologized to Ryan before hand.  I can only chalk it up to getting the call 8 days prior to the fight and as a full time high school biology teacher and wrestling coach, I didn’t have the time I usually have to get in shape.  I was fat & happy until I booked the fight.  I usually train hard and run daily and making weight is no issue.  I mean I’ve weighed in at 123lbs before so flyweight is my home and that’s where I’ll fight moving forward.  I know I’m capable at this weight class.
