So, after his UFC loss, Gabriel Gonzaga now looks like Frankenstein

Gabriel Gonzaga says he “did my best.” Unfortunately for the veteran heavyweight, his best in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 64 main event resulted in a Frankenstein-like cut that covers half his face.

The fighter today posted the above photo (via Instagram).

In Saturday’s UFC Fight Pass-streamed headliner, Gonzaga (16-10 MMA, 11-9 UFC) jumped out to an early lead and was handling Filipovic (31-11-2 MMA, 5-6 UFC) from the clinch and on the mat.

But in the third round, “Cro Cop” brought the fans at Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland, to their feet with some nasty elbow strikes from the clinch. The blows wobbled, sliced and eventually dropped Gonzaga, who was dazed and deemed unable to continue (watch the “Cro Cop” vs. Filipovic video highlights).

The third-round TKO victory marked Filipovic’s first UFC win since 2010 – and his third consecutive knockout win, which included a pair of victories over Satoshi Ishii in Japan, overall. It also avenged his 2007 head-kick knockout loss to Gonzaga in 2007.

For Gonzaga, not only does he get a few weeks of looking like Frankenstein (or, “Frankenstein’s monster,” for you purists out there), but he’s also now suffered three consecutive losses.
