Sean Pierson Announces UFC on FX 3 Bout with Jake Hecht on June 8

Another bout is in the works for UFC on FX 3, according to welterweight talent Sean Pierson, who announced Friday that he will lock horns with Jake Hecht at the June 8 event.

“It’s now official,” Pierson wrote on his official Twitter feed earlier today. “My next UFC event will be [UFC on] FX 3, and I will take on Jake Hecht.”

Headlined by a pivotal flyweight rematch between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall, the event takes place at the BankAtlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The main draws airs live on FX, while the preliminary proceedings will be broadcast on Fuel TV.

Pierson, 36, is a 12-year veteran who made a successful UFC debut in December 2010. Following his hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Matt Riddle at UFC 124, however, Pierson dropped back-to-back contests in 2011, falling by knockout to Jake Ellenberger before relinquishing a unanimous decision to Dong Hyun Kim this past December at UFC 141.

Hecht, meanwhile, has competed with mixed results in his two Octagon appearances. Riding a three-fight winning streak, the 28-year-old first fought for the UFC in December, earning a technical knockout over veteran Rich Attonito at UFC 140. His most recent outing ended less favorably, as “Hitman” tapped to a T.J. Waldburger armbar in just 55 seconds at UFC on FX 2 one month ago.
