Ross Pearson Undergoes Successful Surgery, Already Making Plans for UFC Return

Ross Pearson Post Knee SurgeryA recent knee injury forced UFC lightweight Ross Pearson out of a rematch with Melvin Guillard, which had been slated for UFC Fight Night 37 on March 8 at the O2 Arena in London.

Pearson went in for surgery on Friday to have his right knee repaired.

He reported via Twitter that the surgery went well, so he should be on track for a quick recovery. Pearson said that he will hopefully return to the Octagon sometime in May or June, if rehabilitation of the knee goes according to plan.

Pearson most recently fought in October.

He had put together back-to-back victories upon his return to lightweight, following a disappointing stint at featherweight. Pearson then stepped into the Octagon with Guillard at UFC Fight Night 30 in October, eating several knees to the face.

Pearson suffered a fight-ending cut on his forehead, but it was ruled to be the result of an accidental illegal knee. Thus, the fight was ruled a no contest, and he and Guillard were scheduled for a second tussle at UFC Fight night 37.

The injury bug bit Pearson in late January, however, forcing him into surgery instead of the Octagon.

The Ultimate Fighter Season 12 runner-up Michael Johnson stepped in to take Pearson’s place opposite Guillard in March.
