Lawal and Jackson are set to do battle in Southaven, Miss.. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
“Rampage” and “King Mo” will square off May 17 at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss. The light heavyweight matchup marks the second bout added to Bellator’s first pay-per-view offering, which will be topped by a lightweight title rubber match pitting Eddie Alvarez against Michael Chandler.
A former UFC champion, Jackson joined Bellator last year, knocking out fellow Octagon veteran Joey Beltran this past September at Bellator 108. The 35-year-old then made his tournament debut last month, putting ex-champion Christian M’Pumbu to sleep with ground-and-pound at Bellator 110.
Lawal owns three times the Bellator experience of his upcoming opponent, having competed six times for the Viacom-owned promotion since signing with Bellator in January 2013. Lawal is a three-time tournament veteran, winning the organization’s last Summer Series before suffering a second defeat to Emanuel Newton, who also eliminated “King Mo” from the Season 8 draw. Like Jackson, Lawal most recently competed on Feb. 28, when he outpointed Mikhail Zayats to advance in the Season 10 tourney.
