Mark Hunt Sees UFC Fight Night 33 Main Event Role as a Great Honor

Mark Hunt Pride NYE 2005 Mark Hunt will get his first chance to headline a UFC card when he faces Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Australia, on Dec. 7 (Dec. 6 in the U.S.).

Despite the initial apprehension for the two former training partners to accept the fight, Hunt describes the opportunity as a great honor, although he was hoping he didn’t have to fight Bigfoot unless it was for a world title.

“Its an opportunity. He’s a Top 4 fighter. I don’t even think I’m in the Top 10 at all,” Hunt said. “You both want to be the best fighter on the planet and it’s another step forward for me.”

Following his loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 160, Hunt suffered a setback and was in and out of hospital after suffering from an infected haematoma. He is now fully healed and eager to get back to the grind of training.

“It was actually just a bruise, a haematoma after the fight,” he continued. “I got really sick, but it’s healed now. I gotta get back to some hard work, but I’m looking forward to it.”

“It feels great, to be headlining a UFC card is a honor for me. It’s a combination of all my hard work over the years. It’s the fastest growing sport in the world and the biggest company in the world for mixed martial arts.”
